Geranium dalmaticum

Geranium dalmaticum a close growing, mat forming, species from south east Europe. An easily propagated plant by inserting the semi-woody stems into a pot of compost. Growing on the alpine wall it is a mass of clear pink flowers growing to a maximum height of 75mm. The flower parts hanging down in front of the petals but as the petals drop the style is left prominent extending the season of interest. The foliage remains evergreen through the winter. Clip over to refresh the appearance just before growth commences in spring.

Set in the glasshouse border at the foot of the south facing wall of the arid land house this Pelargonium ‘Splendide’ is a low growing specimen with colourful flowers. A hybrid between P. tricolor and P. ovata (oftern called Pelargonium tricolor ‘Spleandide’), both native to South Africa. May survive the winter if it is very dry or over winter in a pot in a frost free place.
