To accompany our popular exhibition by the great American artist, John Chamberlain, we have devised a programme of free workshops and events for adults and families.

Last week Alexander ‘Twig’ Champion lead the first in a series of meditative tours around the Garden’s outdoor sculptures, including the works of John Chamberlain and the garden’s collection of sculptures, including major works by Ian Hamilton Finlay, Andy Goldsworthy, Barbara Hepworth and Alan Johnston.

If you missed the last tour, you will have the opportunity to join Twig on his next sculpture tour on Sunday 23rd August, and also on Sundays 6th and 20th September, at 2pm. Make sure you arrive early as the last tour was very busy, and it might be worth bringing a rain coat just incase it rains!

We are also running some drop-in workshops for families throughout the exhibition, which we hope you’ll join us for. Our Foam, Foil and Form Family workshops offer children and parents the opportunity to explore the materials and techniques used by the artist in an informal drop-in session inspired by the sculptures of John Chamberlain.

During the workshop you will experiment with colour and form by making miniature foam and foil sculptures and collages, and at the end of the day you can take your Chamberlain inspired works home with you!

Family workshops are taking place on Sunday 16th and Saturday 29th August, as well as on Saturday 5th and Sunday 20th September, 2-4pm.
