49. Dryopteris wallichiana (Sprengel) Hylander DRYOPTERIDACEAE

A fern, very similar to the native British male fern (Dryopteris filix-mas), first described from Nepal, where this specimen was collected. It has a very extensive worldwide distribution, occurring in both the Old and New Worlds, and in both northern and southern hemispheres. In India it occurs in the states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, West Bengal, the North-East States, and in the Nilgiri Hills of Tamil Nadu.
