Prolific flowering with multiple buds held in reserve. This Clematis brevicaudata is covering one of the balustrades on the rock garden bridge. Providing a mass of flowers since late October and with the potential to keep flowering for at least a further two weeks.

A native of Western China where it was found growing on a gravelly slope at c.2400m. Showing sturdy evergreen foliage held on ruddy brown shoots that are strong and rigid like wire. The flowers are composed of four small off white sepals and a multitude of stamens splayed apart and down. A welcome addition to the woody garden flora at this floristically bleak time of year.
