A pair of Goosanders (Mergus merganser) were on the main Pond today; the drake was also present in the early morning of 10 February. Today they spent a lot of time swimming and diving. Because they were so active it was very difficult to get sharp photographs. Goosanders were first noticed visiting RBGE as recently as 2011. The number of days recorded each year has slowly increased, from 1 in 2011, to 2 in 2012 and 4 in 2013.
