It might not feel like it today, but we had a wonderful warm sunny day in the Garden on Tuesday 7th May. During an early morning bird walk in the Botanics that morning led by Cathy Bell, three Swifts were seen flying overhead – the first of 2013. They usually arrive from Africa around the first week of May, so they are on time despite the cold late spring. For me they are one of the signs that summer has arrived!
