The recent warm weather has pushed on all our recently pricked out seedlings, so we have been able to get more plants out into the developing bed of Scottish native plants. Unfortunately the warm weather has encouraged the weeds as well, so there has been plenty of them to remove too.

On the hunt for weeds

As we have started to add some different stone mulches the area has really begun to take shape and many plants are now in full flower. Some of the current stars of the show are Lotus corniculatus (Bird’s-foot Trefoil) and Antennaria dioica (Mountain Everlasting) in the area of Limestone pavement. Adjacent to this the native willows are all romping away, while Trollius europaeus (Globeflower) and  Potentilla rupestris (Rock Cinquefoil) are covered in blooms. The unusual and striking flowers of Cicerbita alpina (Alpine Blue Sow Thistle) are also just beginning to open.
