Helichrysum aureum var. serotinum

Helichrysum aureum var. serotinum

Both of these plants were collected in Lesotho at the southern end of the Drakensberg Mountains, growing in grassland. Both appreciate an open sun drenched position with good drainage. The Helichrysum aureum var. serotinum has saucer like yellow flower buds that are set to expand once we get some sunshine. The Dierama pendulum is at its peak of interest. The long springy stems holding a row of white flowers, caught in a breeze, these bounce gently adding to the interest. A plant to be grown from seed as divisions of the corms with the long strap like foliage often sit and sulk in their new planting position establishing slowly.
