Visit the Diploma in Botanical Illustration show in the Fletcher Building from the 9th to the 17th September from 11am – 4pm each day.
The Graduate Show 2017 features work by students completing the Diploma the Botanical Illustration. The work is wide ranging and this year includes graduates from the Edinburgh based course and the distance learning diploma. We have received work from as far afield as the Greater Toronto Area in Ontario, and Georgian Bay, Canada and subject matter as diverse as the Humble Hedgerow and exotic Arisaema to living fossil prehistoric plants.
The RBGE Diploma Course has challenged and enriched my learning the most. Seriously understanding botany and plant structure to be able to more accurately portray the subjects has made a difference. The discipline of researching, observing, developing drawing and painting skills, referencing botanical artists’ work (past and present), receiving insightful critiques, meeting deadlines, all combine for a strong learning curve. – Kirstin Rindal

The RGBE #rgbedinburgh diploma in botanical illustration has been an amazing experience, one that I would certainly recommend to botanical artists looking for a grounding in botanical art and techniques, and delivered by a fantastic, supportive and innovative team.
