I spotted this unusual fern on a shipment that had come to Vannucci from Japan. The 8-20cm long plants were clinging to the trunk and underside of branches of Pinus pentaphylla and Pinus parviflora.  They managed to root into the moss covered parts of the plant which seemed to keep them alive in the 30 degree plus heat each day

They grow on tree trunks or rocks on forested slopes from sea level to 2000m. The native range of China, Bhutan, NE India, Japan, Kashmir, Korea, Nepal, Philippines.
