There is an untidy mass of evergreen growth on the northern raised border within the Queen Mother Memorial Garden. Jasminum humile produces copious amounts of black fruit. Pigeons are partial to this crop of vitamin C often sitting within the canopy and gorging on the fruit. Berries that survive and drop naturally, germinate readily. Beneath the plant are groups of closely packed seedlings. If teased out gently from the soil the full extent of the well-developed root system can be seen. Separated out and grown on for a second year will produce a useful plant.
