Distinctive shapes characterise Narcissus cyclamineus,and N. bulbocodium; one elongated trumpet with the perianth reflexed back, elongating the flower and the other a bulbous petticoat. Both ideally suited to naturalising in weak growing grassland or the cultivated border as understory to herbaceous perennials and deciduous shrubs. Both are native to Portugal and appreciate a warm summer. The narrow grass like foliage does not dominate once the flowers have faded, soon dying back to add organic matter to the soil.
