Vigorous, young plants of Piptanthus nepalensis are flowering in the border near the wash house in the Garden. The bright, fresh yellow of the flowers are welcome as this is the first year these plants, collected as seed, have flowered. Growing in open, degraded scrub at 3400 metres in Yunnan Province, China. A member of the pea family; Leguminosae. The young foliage and flower buds are covered in silver hair. The stems green, darkening with age. Trifoliate leaves with a blue sheen.
