We were extremely excited to show top chef Neil Forbes around our edible garden last week. What a lovely chap he is too! Like us, Neil is very enthusiastic about sustainability, local food and of course, growing crops. His restaurant, Cafe St Honore in Edinburgh even has its very own vegetable garden on site.

Neil will be working closely with the Botanics over the next few months and is our ambassador for the Science on a Plate exhibition. Watch this space for details of the exhibition and our upcoming culinary events where Neil will be creating dishes from our very own produce. Can’t wait!

Last week I mentioned the hard frost we had over night. As you can see from the pictures the plants have done us proud and recovered from their deep freeze. The vegetable garden can be incredibly resilient as shown by the second picture.
