Gunnera Bog

This area is dominated by the magnificent Gunnera manicata, which has formed a vast, almost impenetrable colony. This area comes alive in the spring as the new leaves begin to develop, with large (~1m) cone shaped spikes of small green flowers are produced. Throughout the summer you can feel like you’re in another world, with the spiky leaves, growing up to 1.5m across, towering over you.
