Agapanthus inapertus ssp holandii

Agapanthus inapertus ssp holandii

Agapanthus grows and flowers best in soil with a high moisture content yet well drained until flowering has finished. It then requires a dryer root zone throughout late autumn and winter until growth recommences in April.

Agapanthus caulescens boasts spectacularly large heads of mid blue flowers. It is native to temperate South Africa.

Agapanthus inapertus ssp. hollandii has flower heads held down on a 1.5m strong stem. Watch the bees almost disappear up the perianth tube in their quest for nectar. The plant is native to the Transvaal region of South Africa.
