Tree huggers converged on 11 sites around Scotland on the 1st of December to mark the end of National Tree Week and to try to break a world record for the largest number of people involved in a mass tree hug. The hug happened between 12 noon and 12.01 pm and the sun was out (in Edinburgh at least).
The big question is has the world record of 950 set in Oregon, USA, earlier in 2013 been broken?
Results are in for Edinburgh Botanics and the regional gardens at Benmore and Dawyck and we are proud to say that collectively our three gardens contributed 511 hugs to the record attempt. This represents over half of the total required by the 11 sites.
The grand total should be released shortly and we will update the blog as soon as we know.
