Astelia chathamica is a vigorous bold clump of sword shaped leaves. A native to New Zealand, more specifically, the Chatham Islands. Our well established plant is fruiting prolifically. The fruit is all crammed cheek by jowl on the stalk and set deep in the centre of the rosette of leaves. Green turning to orange in colour, the fleshy fruit can stain with a yellow dye. Growing to 1.5 metres, the reverse of the leaf has a silver appearance. Grow where the worst effect of wind will not be felt as these are relatively tender plants.
