With the Garden full of spring colour it is good to remember the lesser things that draw the plantings together within the garden. Running through the soil atop the east facing drystone wall in the alpine area is a planting of Primula sieboldii ‘Fantasy’. A plant that slowly colonises organic soil in a shaded situation. The slender rhizomatous roots gradually fill areas of bare soil. The fresh foliage is lit by the low rays of the afternoon sun coming through the deciduous shrub cover. The light green foliage is deeply lobed with hairs on the surface. The true species is native to Siberia into north east Asia.
