We’ve cleared the polytunnel of the last of the winter crops. The spinach was running out of steam and several of the plants had started to flower (also known as bolting or running to seed). This is partly due to sporadic watering.
We’ve made way for the tender summer vegetables that will enjoy the warm, protected environment. A top dress with fresh compost and we are all set for aubergines, chillies, tomatoes and sweetcorn. We are also trying some melons, although they don’t look very convinced about this at the moment – we’ll see how they do…
