Worth a visit; the Alpine House is displaying the best of spring colour. It is undeniable that protected cultivation allows a display of colour and interest to get a month’s start on garden planting. There are representatives of many spring flowering genera within the house, Galanthus, Crocus, Cyclamen, Iris, Gymnospermium, Scilla and Erythronium in bud, on a promise. A truly traditional way of growing and displaying these alpine plants to best advantage. A sure reminder that our weather will improve and then we can appreciate a similar range throughout the rock garden. Amongst these gems spot the hulking giant; Galanthus ‘Brigadier Mathias’.
